After 11 years and 7 months the restoration of 1941 Porterfield, S/N 916, NC34814 was completed during November 1989, exactly 10 years after the original estimate.
The final 785 hours included covering, spraying, assembly for weight and balance, disassembly for moving to the airport for re-assembly and rigging bringing the total
number to 4505 reconstruction hours since starting in 1978.
The first flight after reconstruction was recorded on video on February 11, 1990.
After a CFI sign off the first solo on May 13, 1990 was also captured on video.
Annual Number 20 will be started next month (Nov. 2009) with more than 700 hours now showing on the Tachometer.
