Welcome to our wee club for the skinny birds, Eric!  I think you’re the third Porterfield in the club.  I suppose you’re all related, if you go back far enough.  

Have you ever sat in a Collegiate?  If you’re taller than 6’ and weigh over 200#, you may find the fit uncomfortable, as pilots tended to be more diminutive in the late 30’s.  When sitting in the front seat, where you solo from, the panel is about a foot away from your face, which is not for the claustrophobic, though you become acclimated to it after about half an hour of flight.  

There are quite a few projects and flyable Porterfield’s out there, and a lot of info on them in the forum and blogs, as well as the photos and videos, so enjoy exploring our website!
