need fairleads for 1940 Collegiate

I am restoring a 1940 Collegiate and need to find a source for control cable fairleads. The fairleads are .550 in diameter and 1" long. I have checked all the traditional sources and they all have Piper cub fairleads that are .750" in diameter. Does anyone have a source for Porterfield fairleads?See More

Are there any Collegiates in Michigan?

I have a 1940 Porterfield basket case that I am restoring. I have very little technical information to put this thing back together. I've done OK so far, but could use some pictures of one that is together and flying. I built new wings and am ready to cover them. Progress has been slow as I put the pieces of the puzzle together. Please call me if you have one that I could come and take pictures of inside and out. I do not want to disassemble anything or cause any harm in doing so. Pictures…See More

Do you own a Porterfield Airplane?
1940 Porterfield project that I got from BeBE Owen in Florida. This used to be my father's airplane. I am anxious to restore it and could use some guidance from some of your members.

Need steel channel to repair rudder on 1940 CP50

Does anyone know where I can get tapered steel channel for the rudder of my CP50? The 2 bottom channels are cracked and need to be replaced. If I can't find a source to them, I will attempt to bend some out of .040 4130 steel strips.

Question about Headknockers - aileron balance weights

I have a 1940 CP50 that I am restoring from the ground up.  I  built new ailerons and transferred the lead weight from the old aileron to the leading edge spar of the new aileron.  While in Osh Kosh I saw a LP65 with headknockers for balance weights. My CP50 was not equipped with headknockers. I searched for AD's but could not find any for the CP50. Does anyone know if the headknockers was an STC or some other add-on? My ailerons are quite heavy at the trailing edge. I have always been told…
