Keep the Skinny Birds Flying Safely

Hi guys, I'm very happy to be here as my Dad and I are the new care takers of CP65 651. We recently aquired her and just completed an extensive annual as she had not flown in several years as her previous caretaker has passed away. I have put several hours on her the past week. What a fabulous airplane to fly. The fabric is still in good shape and will allow us a year or so to enjoy the airplane as it is. We will eventually do a full restoration and will be looking here for advise. Our goal is to bring it back to completely original with wheel pants and original NC registration. Do any of you have knowledge of a set of original wheel pants available to buy?

Wheel pants are not easy to come by, but I've heard others assert that Taylorcraft wheel pants are very similar, if not identical, to Porterfields'.  They may have come from the same manufacturer, but I don't know that for a fact.

Welcome to the club and thank you for getting another of Ed's skinny daughters back in the air, we look forward to reading of your adventures.

Ol' 41Vermont just turned 75 on January 13th, and the snow in New England has been perfect for getting her up off her Federal SC-1's.  Every field, lake, pond, and golf course is a beckoning landing spot.  Sometimes, we just drop in and leave a pair of ski tracks in the snow, then fly off, so people wandering by later can scratch their heads over what created them.  Flying over Stowe, I'm tempted to try skiing down one of the more open runs, but they're all on the east side, in the rotor zone, and they have bumps and moguls that would probably clean off the landing gear and shatter Mr. Flottorp...ruining my day.
