Hi Guys,

My ELT in the Porterfield appears to have seen its last day. It is an EBC-102A portable ELT and I wanted to put the feelers out to see if anyone has a functioning unit that they may want to part with. The OEM no longer supports them and new 406 units of similar design are incredibly expensive so I am turning to the vintage airplane community to see if there are any serviceable units available. Thank you!

Several months ago I ran across a discussion concerning a wing spar repair. I am now uncertain which website it was located within; Porterfield Club, Facebook, etc. The essence of the question was related to repair of a damaged wooden wing spar and the proper method to splice the spar.

Long story, but my dad was an A.E. with a background in working with wooden aircraft. I knew he was considering at one point the methods to fix a couple of spars from a Porterfield we owned. Additionally, his library contains a significant number of technical reference documents from his career in the aircraft industry.

I found one document that would be a good source of information for someone considering repairs of this type. I wanted to document that 'find' so that anyone considering such repairs would at least have a place to start. Perhaps this is common knowledge; if so, forgive me for being repetitive. The document description follows:

(USAF) T.O. 1-1A-1 / (NAVY) AN 01-1A-1 GENERAL MANUAL FOR STRUCTURAL REPAIR

The copy I have is the Second Edition dated 1 July 1944; and I have a couple of the supplements. ANYONE using this type of information would be prudent to obtain the latest information available from approved sources. (there, you've been warned)....

The section I wish to point out is:

Section XII Repair of Wood Aircraft Structures

....and within that section, the topics covered on pages 35 thru 38 ...

Pat Cole has his Dad's old girl in storage near his motorcycle shop and would like to find a good home for her. Pat is a member and can be contacted through this website if you're interested. I haven't seen her, other than photos, so can't vouch for her, but she might not take much to get her back in the air. You'll need to come with a trailer to haul her to her new home, after paying for her. Price is negotiable. Go look her over and explain to Pat why she's worth whatever your offer is.…

Hello,

I have asked around to several aircraft exhaust shops to no avail. A couple have jigs to make 7 cylinder exhaust, but nobody seems to be making 5 cylinder exhaust.

Anybody have a decent exhaust system for sale, or know who makes new ones?

Thanks

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and a recent new owner of a Porterfield project. As the project is nearing completion I need to get in contact with Brad Rankin (the type certificate holder as I am sure you all know). If anyone has his contact information or knows how to get a hold of him, please reach out to me, it would be extremely helpful!

Thanks,
