Hello fellow Skinny birders. My fuel tank shut off valve is leaking past the packing nut. Does anyone know what the correct packing would be to use so I can rebuild it? Maybe it’s a generic packing that’s fuel proof. But thought I’d put it out there and see if anybody else has done this before.
I don't have drawing 1846, either, and who knows if any other members have it. Brad Rankin might have it, but that would require him to go through what his grandpa left him, and he's likely too busy to help us out.
You have an old brass, Imperial shut off valve, but I don't have a part number for it. You may have to go with a modern form/fit/function replacement, like an Apollo ball valve that is used in the Husky and American Champion types. Measure up your valve so you know what thread the inlet/outlet is and if the existing lever can work on the new valve's shaft.
Thanks Andy. I’ll get the fuel drained down and work with my trusty A&P to arrive at a safe remedy. Im currently in the early phases of getting my own A&P certificate through my local Part 147 school. I must say I’m thoroughly enjoying the process.

Appologies for the orientation of the images, it somehow changed when they were added.
