Porterfield Aircraft - 4th Factory Location

1720/1726 Wabash Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri

I have in my notes that this address appeared in Porterfield's advertising in 1938, 1939, 1940 and Feb 1941.  However, the Columbia Wiping Cloth Company apparently moved in before this photo was taken in 1940 and Porterfield was already on to its next and final location (2809 E 14th).  Porterfield may have continued some operation here after Columbia moved in, it may have just been an error in some of the ads they published, or I may be mistaken about the Feb 1941 ad.   

This facility actually has a longer frontage along East 18th Street, as seen in the image below.

The images above are from the 1940 photos taken for tax assessment.

Today, this building houses the Meter Field Services Division of the Kansas City Water Department. Rooster Rubber (Premium Rubber Surfacing) previously occupied the building.
