I love aircraft from the Golden Age! My love affair with the "skinny bird" goes back many years ago when Garth DeCew flew his Collegiate into Cable airport back in '92. Standing near the threshold, and seeing the wooden propellor disk shimmering in the sunlight, as it came over the fence, set my heart on fire! The following month, there was a feature article on his aircraft in Private Pilot magazine. My quest for all things Porterfield has yet to be fulfilled. I was a member of Chuck Lebrecht's type club for several years and have always been hoping for a digital version.
Thank you so much for establishing this great website! I always check in for news and updates.
Please keep up the good work.
I have to finish my Waiex this spring so I can bring the Skinny Bird out here and finish it. Porterfields were made to fly low and slow over Wisconsin farms.
Thank you Clint and Tom,
Was just heading out the door to go to the Cable Air Show! Have to get my fix of Porterfields.
Yes, Tom, my brothers plane is at Chino for now awaiting further work.
It's a beautiful day here in So Cal, going to be in the 70's today. I know , it's tough living with this weather in January.
Bradley,
We are glad to have you as a member of our Porterfield Club. It's good to see that you have been bitten by the Skinny Bird bug. I think your brother Jason told me that 32368 is still out in California, while he is finishing up a Sonex Waiex or something in Oshkosh.
Feel free to add photos and such.
