Keep the Skinny Birds Flying Safely

I have been working on the C85 conversion for my LP 65 Porterfield for a few months now and have accomplished the following:

I have approval and data to use for the engine change figured out and ready to go
I have located a C85 which is being zero timed
My mechanic has fabricated the mount from the Porterfield factory drawings
I also have data and drawings for wing tank fabrication and installation

My new mount is on and we are now working on cowl issues prior to the arrival of the C85 using a spare case

Good News!  We have finished the install and test flew the Porterfield with her new C85-8 engine this weekend.  All went well and we have some tweaks to do to finish up cosmetics.  All paperwork is done so for those of you who want to go through the process feel free to contact me.  The next project will be a wing tank installation but only after I get to fly her for a while.

The most relevant technical data can be found from N27242 in the FAA records which I got a copy of.  There is detail on the wing tank installation and load factors along with the C85 conversion.  This detail was sufficient for my DER to agree to prepare the necessary paperwork for both modifications and would be the best way to go for those interested in following this path.  I will post more detail as we go along.
